Kratom And Alcohol
One of the more common questions we get from our kratom community, “can you take alcohol with kratom?”
Kratom and alcohol, a dangerous duo? The perfect duet?
Now, kratom originates from Southeast Asia. Kratom has been used in natural medicine in that area for centuries. The tribes have a long history with kratom, using it to treat chronic pain, anxiety and boost the mood.
Alcohol, you already know that story. While legal, alcohol can be dangerous. Sure, a lot of people like to drink and in a controlled environment, it’s fine. My concern is how it impairs the body, but I’m not against it at all.
Mixing Kratom And Alcohol
I’m going to be straight and clear with this, first giving you my opinion.
In small moderation, low doses, I see no problem taking kratom and alcohol together.
I know some people that take their kratom dose with a drink, but that’s all.
When it comes to mixing kratom and alcohol in larger quantities, I’m against this.
It’s dangerous and your safety is my priority concern (always).
Even in a controlled environment, using large amounts of kratom and alcohol together is asking for trouble.
Is Kratom And Alcohol Ever Worth Using Together
I just don’t see the benefit. If you’re taking your dose with a sip of wine, that’s fine.
If you’re using a lot of kratom with little alcohol or a lot of alcohol with little kratom, the effects of both can be magnified.
If you’re going to take kratom, I’d recommend staying clear from alcohol.
What Kratom Users And Drinkers Say
This is where it gets interesting. This is a hot topic in the kratom world right now and there’s actually a lot of people using kratom and alcohol together.
We have alcoholics, we have social drinkers, we have wine drinkers, so it’s a wide pool of drinks that are mixing kratom and alcohol.
As kratom becomes more popular for recreational uses, more drinkers are trying kratom than ever before.
The science behind the two are straight forward.
- Kratom is a known stimulate.
- Alcohol is a known CNS depressant.
While we know missing alcohol with opioids can be deadly, we really don’t have any proof of kratom and alcohol being deadly or dangerous.
I’ve heard alcoholics that are taking kratom for their alcohol addiction are reporting it has helped them drink a lot less. We’ve heard the same from social drinkers too. When they take kratom, they drink less than usual.
We know kratom is commonly used for opiate withdrawal, but you rarely here kratom being used for alcohol withdrawal. It’s possible this can be true, kratom may help with alcohol withdrawal symptoms. However, I’ve been unable to find proof of that. It’s interesting to know that some kratom users are using kratom for that purpose.
Kratom And Alcohol Experiences
Here’s the problem.
Everyone is different, alcohol and kratom is going to effect you differently from the next.
Personally speaking, I can see its benefits, I can see the dangers too.
If you’re going to be using the two together, please be cautious. The best thing to do is keep your consumption small.
I understand some of you may have built tolerances to both, again, just be careful.
It’s awesome to hear kratom users discussing this and sharing their experiences. We all appreciate that a lot.
The Reddit kratom community has a lot of good insights to alcohol and kratom too.
Using Kratom For Alcohol Withdrawal
Now, thanks to the science, here’s what we know.
Kratom reacts to your opioid receptors, releasing those “feel good” endorphins. This is the kratom high people talk about, stimulation.
When you’re drinking alcohol, the effects are similar, releasing endorphins in your body.
This is one of the reasons why kratom can help with opiate withdrawal.
Since alcohol withdrawal can include some of the same symptoms, some users are using it for alcohol withdrawal.
However, if you have severe alcohol withdrawal, kratom may not be as effective as you need. In this case, you likely would need medications that are designed specifically for several alcoholism.
Potential Side Effects Of Using Alcohol And Kratom
There’s a lot of potential side effects.
- Body Weakness
With that being said, there’s no research or evidence that alcohol and kratom will cause these symptoms.
Third, there’s a lot of different alcohol beverages. Each one has different potency and effects.
Considering all of these, it’s impossible to examine how all these different combinations can make you feel.
To close this guide out, I’ll leave you with this.
If you’re going to be using alcohol and kratom together, please be cautious.
Please understand, I have nothing against alcohol. I’m a kratom advocate, not an alcohol advocate.
